In this contemporary world, I think already, there is no field which is not in relation with technology and artificial intelligence (AI).Also in education, the integration of technology and AI has transformed the way we teach and learn.Digital tools has enabled us to create dynamic environments that can enhance students’ engagement, personalize learning experiences, and foster collaboration among learners and educators.
As an English learner, I've been in this field since my high education. During my bachelor years, I made use of artificial intelligence effectively, particularly,Chatgpt. It helped me to find relevant information for my different modules.
Nowadays, during my master's program, because of ILT classes,I was able to learn a wide range of technological tools that are really beneficial for my learning process and as well as for my future job. Before moving to those tools, I want to talk a little about AI in my today’s life.Honestly,I will use it on daily basis. It is assisting me a lot in terms of my research, courseworks.I usually ask it to the structure of writing my work.
Here,in the following sections, I will provide information and share my experiences for each technological tool I found the most useful.
1.Wordwall
It is a platform that I want to reflect on now. This platform can be used to create various tasks, making use of these templates;match up,speaking cards, flash cards, spin the wheel, unjumble, open the box, etc. We can make activities visually appealing by changing styles and options. As a future educator,I also used wordwall for my online course, creating a grammar activity in it.According to my experience, it is a good site for both teachers and students, since it is free and not time-consuming.
2. Padlet
Padlet is another interactive platform worth mentioning. This platform suggests 10 types of tools(discussion board, assessment polls, lesson plan etc) for designing activities. You can use either AI or your own ideas to create them. I used this platform for my course,in particular I made an activity with the section called map of historical events. It is very easy, you should just write your subject, grade and topic then your task is ready. In my opinion, padlet is more advisable for teachers as discussion boards for learners’ interaction and assessment polls to observe students’ learning progress can be done there.
3.Educaplay
It is one of the best platforms for creating games and making your learners enjoy. There are almost 20 types of games in educaplay. I’m sure that all of them can be engaging for different levels of learners. It’s all free and can be used in English lessons,CLIL classes and other subjects as well.In my experience, I used froggy jumps in the online course. It seems to be an interesting game for both young and adult learners. All in all,I can recommend this incredible gaming platform for teachers to design warm-ups and main tasks too.
4.Genially
Genially can be seen as a powerful educational tool. It has such features that are really amazing. This platform allows us to create interactive as well as visually appealing content. It provides a variety of templates and other design elements. We can make presentations, infographics, quizzes, games and so on. It is a good place for educators and students from my viewing. The most lovely thing I like about genially is that it can give an opportunity for users to work collaboratively, meaning that multiple users can edit and contribute to a project simultaneously, for example. For my online course,I also make use of this tool, making interactive content for my learners.
